BASQUE WATERCOLOUR ASSOCIATION
The Basque Watercolour Association was founded in Bilbao in 1945 by 14 prestigious painters, including Juan de Aróstegui Barbier, the main driving force behind the group. Over the years it has worked to consolidate the watercolour as a specific pictorial technique and has grown to having 300 members today. The Basque Watercolour Association has been a member of the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies (ECWS) since 2001, contributing to its aims of dissemination, cooperation and the worldwide promotion of the art of watercolour painting. It develops national and international activities promoting the watercolour as a specific technique: exhibitions, training workshops, master classes, conferences and cultural visits.
