Material, form and space: this is Chillida’s sculpture. For this reason, over the years he has explored different materials , studying them, seeing how they react, how they adapt to his needs. He has used different materials at different times: first plaster, then stone, iron – Basque iron. His interest in limits also comes from the concern with, and reflection on, space. Chillida is interested in the limits of things, that terrain where things start to be and sop being, whey they are and at the same time are not, where what is ends and what was not begins.
