PROGRAMME: BideOtik 2020. Various
BIdeOtik, the Azkuna Zentroa video creation programme, evolves with a new format that includes, for the first time, a public call. Its purpose is to foster the search for other audio-visual narratives and add value to projects generated locally and internationally.
Over 300 works from local and international artists and video-creators were presented between 25th October and 22nd December 2019, from which some of the 14 works to be projected during 8 weekly sessions were selected.
BIdeOtik aims to provide inclusion for those creations which are more experimental and different vis-à-vis other ways of recording and representing the audio-visual lexicon. Therefore, when selecting the works, those produced from 2017 onwards which are dedicated to documentary film and which have been created from an aesthetic perspective and a contemporary audio-visual practice, tackling topics related to personal experiences, biographies, trajectories and life stories, among others, have received special consideration. These are feature length and short documentaries, which include fiction films, biopics and family stories, some of which are first works.
The aim of this programme is to provide visibility for artistic, cultural and creative audio-visual creation as a cultural and social creation, reflection and transformation tool, fostering the use of new languages through moving images and digital art. Similarly, it seeks the encounter between the public and these creators.
Therefore, the sessions are organised as a connection space between audio-visual creation and society, where each author presents his/her work and shares the processes of the project with the public.
The programme, which will screen the documentaries selected via public call and curators, will start on 4th February and end on 25th March with Zumiriki, Basque director Oskar Alegria’s latest feature film.
